During the late 19th century, a Dutchman created a brand new breed. Equipped with a variety of dogs and a growing understanding of genetics, E.K. Korthals wanted to develop a talented, multi-purpose sporting dog. A mix of Griffon, Setters, Spaniels, German Shorthaired Pointer and Otterhound resulted in a medium-sized, thick-coated success.
Deliberate workers and strong swimmers, Wirehaired Pointing Griffons have worked as successful pointers and retrievers since their appearance. An easy-going physical appearance compliments their loyal and friendly dispositions.
